Hatch once again named one of Canada’s Safest Employers for 2021
Award recognizes outstanding accomplishments in promoting health and safety in the workplace
Mississauga, Canada—Hatch has once again been named one of Canada’s Safest Employers, winning in the category of Mining and Natural Resources Employer. Canada’s Safest Employers, presented by Canadian Occupational Safety, is an annual awards program that recognizes outstanding health and safety organizations in a range of industries.
To qualify for the award, Hatch submitted a detailed nomination with examples of how safety is maintained and communicated to employees. Canadian Occupational Safety then conducted an employee perception survey with organizations that were shortlisted to gather feedback on how safety is engrained in the company’s organizational culture. Winners were determined by a panel of industry judges based on the nomination and results of the employee perception survey.
“Our mission as an organization is to build practical solutions that are safe, innovative, and sustainable. We strive every day to achieve no harm with our colleagues, clients, and communities,” shared Dan Welshons, Hatch’s global director, Health & Safety. “That’s why being recognized as one of Canada’s Safest Employers means so much. It’s recognition that our proactive safety culture is working and thriving.”
A part of maintaining Hatch’s strong safety culture is the engagement of our teams to take ownership of the systems and tools used to plan our work and complete required training that equips all staff to be able to carry out their work in a safe, skilled manner. Earlier this year, Hatch’s custom-developed health and safety training programs for employees won two Horizon Interactive Gold Awards.
