As the iron and steel industry moves to decarbonize its processes, a significant amount of carbon-free energy will be required, and nuclear technology is well positioned to be a part of the solution.

Unfortunately, coal-fired power plants emit substantial amounts of particulate matter; greenhouse gases (GHG) including carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, and other contaminants negatively affect our health and our environment. Despite this, 1,400 GW of coal-fired power generation capacity has been added to the world’s power generation output since the year 2000. With this in mind, it will be vital to repurpose these plants where possible in order to ensure the continued fulfillment of our energy needs while significantly reducing CO2 and other harmful constituents.

As part of its Caning Bridge Activity Centre Plan for Perth’s City of Melville, Hatch developed a concept plan to enhance the northern portion of Ogilvie Road. The plan proposes landscaped verges, rain gardens, public alfresco seating areas, widened footpaths and crossings, traffic-calming measures, public artwork, new trees, and improved pedestrian accessibility and on-street parking bays.
