Celebrating International Women in Engineering Day

June 23 is International Women in Engineering Day. We know that engineering continues to be male dominated, but much effort has been placed in recent years to increase the number of women choosing to enter the field and studying engineering. In some regions, good progress has been made; however, there continues to be challenges in retaining women in the profession. Some studies show that nearly 40 percent of women who earn engineering degrees either quit or never enter the profession.

To honor the day, we talked to some of our women in engineering about these challenges and find out why they stayed with the profession.
