Hatch announces sponsorship of Ontario Science Centre’s Astronaut and Women in Space exhibitions
Toronto, Canada—Hatch has been announced as lead sponsor of the Ontario Science Centre’s newest exhibitions: Astronaut and Women in Space. This is part of the Centre’s Summer of Space, including a lineup of films, exhibitions, programs, and special events that celebrates human space exploration.
Summer of Space launched with a celebration on May 16, which began with a screening of Apollo 11: First Steps Edition. Hatch’s managing director of engineering delivery, Laura Twigge-Molecey, was on hand to introduce a discussion with an esteemed panel of experts:
- Dr. Roberta Bondar, the first Canadian woman and first neurologist in space
- Mark Armstrong, an engineer, entrepreneur, and public speaker, and son of Neil Armstrong
- Dr. Shawna Pandya, a citizen-scientist astronaut candidate with Project PoSSUM (Polar Suborbital Science in the Upper Mesosphere)
- Natalie Panek, an aerospace engineer currently working in mission systems at MDA’s Robotics and Automation division.
The panelists shared their expertise in space exploration and also spoke at length about the role of diversity and inclusion and the impact of women on the field. Hatch has been working with institutions and agencies like the Ontario Science Centre to bring awareness to diversity and inclusion in STEM because we believe that a diverse and a fully inclusive work environment fosters a plurality of thought and perspectives that solves challenging problems and creates value for our clients, for our communities, and for the world at large.
