$205 million West Side Modernization project at Port Saint John awarded to Hatch/Dillon
Saint John, NB—Hatch, along with joint venture partner Dillon Consulting, is proud to announce it has been selected as lead design engineer for the West Side Terminal Modernization Project by Port Saint John in New Brunswick, Canada. This project, which spans from preliminary design through to the end of construction, is anticipated to complete in 2024.
The $205 million terminal upgrade will support growth, modernization, and allow for the consolidation of two cargo terminals. Not only does this enable the facility to receive ships up to new Panamax size, but will also advance existing operational systems and use new technologies to enhance cargo handling capabilities, a new multimodal yard, and dredging of the main channel.
“Since last summer’s funding announcement, we at Port Saint John have been working diligently behind the scenes to line up the start of the project. With the awarding of the design engineering contract to Hatch Dillon everyone will begin to see the signs of the project starting up in the coming weeks and months,” said Jim Quinn, President & CEO of Port Saint John.
The West Side Modernization project is funded by a three-way partnership between the Government of Canada, the Government of New Brunswick, and Port Saint John. The design is being led and executed from Hatch’s Halifax, Nova Scotia office and Dillon Consulting’s office in Saint John, New Brunswick.
“Our team is committed to helping Port Saint John transform into a deeper, stronger, and more efficient port and creating a positive long-lasting impact on the surrounding community. This is a flagship project for Hatch and we are proud to be a part of it.” added Lorne Flowers, project manager for Hatch.
