Global Managing Director, Business Practices

Stephane Raymond has helped deliver some of Hatch’s landmark aluminum, nickel, iron, and lithium projects. With more than 25 years of experience in megaproject execution, Stephane brings extensive expertise to his role as regional managing director of Europe and his board appointment as global managing director for Hatch’s Product business practices. 

As GMD, Stephane is responsible for the design and delivery of custom process equipment and digital solutions to address our clients’ most complex problems, leading a global team of more than 400 professionals. In tandem, he oversees and manages Hatch’s operations in Europe. 

Stephane joined Hatch right after graduating from Université de Sherbrooke, where he completed his Bachelor of Electrical Engineering. He steadily progressed into more senior roles, developing wide recognition for his ability to deliver quality work, lead cohesive teams, and forge trusted relationships with clients. 

With on-site assignments around the world (from Québec’s northern territories to Malaysia and Australia), Stephane honed his skills in project management, control system development and implementation, construction, commissioning, start-up, and plant maintenance on large-scale engineering, procurement, and construction management (EPCM) projects including Cerro Matoso L2 Expansion, Alouette Phase 2, Qatalum, and Koniambo.  

Concurrent to his work with Hatch, Stephane also advocates for numerous charitable and philanthropic causes. While managing the Eastern Canada region, he renewed Hatch’s yearly commitment to Centraide, which provides community support for underserved populations, launching the “Hatch for Centraide Show” in 2016. He also spearheaded Hatch’s participation in the 24h Tremblant Challenge in 2017 and Hatch’s collaboration with the Musée des Beaux Arts de Montréal, which has been ongoing since 2019.  

Stephane speaks English, French, and Spanish. He is an active member of the Ordre des ingénieurs de Québec and was a member of the board of directors for the Conseil du Patronat du Québec between 2019 to 2023.  

Music and sports (especially swimming, skiing, golfing, and cycling) have always occupied an important of Stephane’s life. Though he holds a classical degree in piano, he is an avid fan of blues and rock music and takes every chance he can to get on stage with his band, Les Associés.
