Supporting Indonesia’s communities through COVID-19
Hatch has made a donation to the Amal Khair Yasmin Foundation (the Foundation) to support vulnerable Indonesian communities impacted by COVID-19 and to help them break fast for the holy month of Ramadan.
The Foundation is a leading not-for-profit organization located in the same neighborhood as our office in Jakarta. A highly valued organization within Indonesia, the Foundation works to better the lives of entire communities, and is committed to their mission to help underprivileged children and families by strongly advocating for their health, education, and well-being.
The current pandemic has greatly impacted Indonesian communities as the lockdowns and restrictions have caused many to lose their jobs and income. Since the beginning of May, the Foundation has used our donation to fund the preparation and distribution of food for the vulnerable and underprivileged community members across Jakarta. All produce and food items have been purchased from small shops and market stalls to support the greater community. These supplies will ensure that the local families and children impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak can prepare break-fasting meals throughout the highly celebrated month of Ramadan, the Islamic calendar month of fasting, prayer, and community.
Our donation has enabled the Foundation to distribute eighty-seven food packs to families who work within the informal sector as day laborers, taxi drivers, and street vendors, and who are out of work due to the lockdown and social restrictions. The Foundation has also delivered thirty food packs and milk cartons to the Yasmin Kindergarten, ensuring local children are kept healthy and supported through Ramadan as their families struggle in the current crisis.
The team at Foundation has further taken this opportunity to educate the community and local children on healthy habits and the recommended COVID-19 prevention steps, encouraging all to wash their hands before meals, standing 1.5 meters apart when in line for meals, and wearing masks when traveling in public or visiting the food distribution centers.
Like Hatch, the Foundation’s core values encompass innovation, sustainable business, and the pursuit of a better world through positive change. We are proud to be supporting such an inspiring organization during this crisis and look for ways to ensure our Australia-Asia communities are supported now and in the future.
