Hatch renews its partnership with the Université de Sherbrooke to support women in science and engineering and promote net-zero emissions strategies
Montreal, QC — Hatch is proud to announce the renewal of its partnership with the Université de Sherbrooke to support the Chair for Women in Science and Engineering in Québec (CWSE), as well as its new commitment to the recently launched Research Chair on Net-Zero Strategies and the Life Cycle.
By supporting these two chairs for a total of $250,000 over 10 years, Hatch is strengthening its commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in science and engineering and to developing innovative solutions to achieve net-zero emissions targets.
“We are delighted to renew our partnership with the Université de Sherbrooke to support these two crucial initiatives,” said Hélène Beaulieu, director, Human Resources, Eastern Canada. “This reflects our commitment to creating a more inclusive and sustainable future. We strongly believe that diverse perspectives are essential to innovate and rise to global challenges.”
The Chair for Women in Science and Engineering in Québec (CWSE)
The CWSE’s mission is to increase the representation of women in science and engineering through mentoring programs, educational activities, and outreach initiatives. The chair works to promote equity, diversity. and inclusion in higher education and research. Hatch will continue its initiatives to engage and unite stakeholders around the promotion, recruitment, retention, and advancement of women in STEM.

Research Chair on Net-Zero Strategies and the Life Cycle
This chair focuses on developing innovative strategies to achieve net-zero emissions and promote sustainable practices throughout the life cycle of products and infrastructure. It aims to provide concrete solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and foster a circular economy. Hatch will contribute its technical expertise and experience with sustainable projects to support research and development initiatives.
“To limit global warming to 1.5°C, for example, we need to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. The Chair on Net-Zero Strategies and the Life Cycle addresses the needs of organizations that understand how vital and challenging this objective is, and that are ready to experiment with radically different management approaches,” said Professor Marie-Luc Arpin, School of Management, Université de Sherbrooke.
