Hatch awarded contract to support offshore grid and HVDC converter stations in the Netherlands

Arnhem, Netherlands- Hatch has been awarded a contract by TenneT TSO B.V., the Netherlands’ offshore grid operator, to provide engineering support services for the development of offshore grid connections. This critical infrastructure project aims to connect offshore wind farms to the onshore power grid. 

Our role over the next three years, with potential extensions, will involve supporting the engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning of 2 GW HVDC converter stations. This contract was secured through a competitive negotiation process and is divided into two lots focusing on control, protection, and systems studies for Lot 1 and HVDC design and commissioning for Lot 2. 

Hatch will provide backup services for Lot 1 and will be the second backup consultant for Lot 2. This initiative by TenneT is part of a broader effort to enhance their offshore energy capacity, with plans to connect six 2 GW HVDC systems in the Netherlands by 2031. We are committed to offering essential engineering support to ensure these connections are developed efficiently, contributing to the country’s renewable energy goals.
