Hatch takes home top prize at the Canadian Consulting Engineering Awards
Hatch receives prestigious Schreyer Award and four Awards of Excellence
Ottawa, Canada - October 20, 2023 – Hatch celebrated a remarkable achievement at the 55th annual Canadian Consulting Engineering (CCE) Awards Gala, accepting the highest honor, the Schreyer Award, for the Mosaic K3 Project – South Shaft Headframe project. This award is presented to the project that best demonstrates technical excellence and innovation by a consulting engineering firm. The CCE Awards Gala showcases the best in Canadian engineering.
Hatch also won four prestigious Awards of Excellence, recognizing its outstanding contributions to engineering innovation and project excellence on the following projects:
Mosaic K3 Project – South Shaft Headframe in Saskatchewan: Innovating in all that we do, the project utilized industry-leading techniques to modularize, lift, and place over 2,000 tons of internal steel structure and specialized hoisting equipment, all within a complex slip-formed concrete headframe. The project achieved ambitious safety targets and finished ahead of schedule and under budget. For more information click here.
Port Saint John Westside Modernization Project in New Brunswick: Port of Saint John is North America’s fastest-growing container terminal, benefiting the local economy, and fostering relationships with First Nations communities. This endeavor expanded the container terminal and intermodal capacity and included the implementation of concrete caissons and adaptable infrastructure while maintaining operations amidst some of the world’s highest tides. Waaban Crossing (formerly Kingston Third Crossing) in Ontario: This 1.2 km bridge, completed ahead of schedule and under budget, was North America’s first to use the collaborative Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) model for a bridge. Close collaboration resulted in cost-saving innovations, local community benefits, and environmental considerations. The bridge is a symbol of pride for Kingston, connecting communities, enhancing emergency response times, and promoting active transportation. For more information click here.
Centerm Expansion Project in British Columbia: By increasing the Centerm inner-harbor container terminal’s capacity by over 60% while only expanding its footprint by 15%, the team addressed complex challenges, maintained safety, and prioritized sustainability. The team’s efforts led to Envision Platinum certification and recognition from the Institute of Sustainable Infrastructure. For more information click here.
