Hatch accredited as Employer of Choice for Gender Equality
Accreditation recognizes Australian workplaces that are committed to working towards gender balance
Melbourne, Australia – Hatch is pleased to have been accredited as an Employer of Choice for Gender Equality (EOCGE) by the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA). The EOCGE citation is designed to encourage, recognize, and promote active commitment to achieving gender equality in Australian workplaces. WGEA is an Australian Government statutory agency charged with promoting and improving gender equality throughout Australia.
Organizations apply for the citation and are reviewed according to a criterion covering leadership, learning and development, gender remuneration gaps, flexible working and other initiatives to support family responsibilities, employee consultation, preventing sex-based harassment and discrimination, and targets for improving gender equality outcomes. Criteria are regularly strengthened to reflect best practice.
“…Every employer committed to gender equality embarks upon their own unique journey towards achieving the equal participation by women and men in their workplace...What unites them is their determination and commitment to achieving workplace gender equality. I congratulate all of these organizations for being agents of change, leading the way forward for other Australian employers to follow,” said Libby Lyons, WGEA Director.
Hatch is one of 141 recipients of the 2018-19 EOCGE citation announced recently, and one of 26 new organizations introduced this year. More organizations than ever have been granted the EOCGE citation, reflecting the growing commitment to workplace gender equality in Australia.
“We operate in an industry that is grossly under represented by females, an imbalance we are committed to improving. We have spent the last two years building the foundation for true gender equality because we believe that a diverse and a fully inclusive work environment fosters a plurality of thought and perspectives that solves challenging problems and creates value for our clients, for our communities, and for the world at large. We promote teams where everyone has a voice and we’re not done until every voice has been heard,” said Jan Kwak, Hatch's regional managing director, Australia-Asia.
Hatch has recognized the gender gap within the engineering profession and been working to improve or implement programs to encourage more gender balance, both within the company and within the wider profession. Hatch recently reviewed and improved its flexible work and leave options to support the lifestyle of our employees, implemented initiatives to attract and retain women in the organization at all levels, introduced an inclusive leadership development program, and regularly analyses equity in pay, regardless of gender.
Hatch congratulates all companies who have been recognized as an Employer of Choice for Gender Equity.
