Key Transportation Leader Joins Growing Hatch NYC Team
New York City, New York - Hatch is pleased to welcome Joshua Nelson as Principal Project Director-Transportation. Joshua previously served as the Senior Vice President, Transportation Systems, for the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC), where he was responsible for various transportation facilities, operations and transit services throughout New York City. In this role, Joshua and his team performed strategic planning, business development, contract negotiations, operations, asset management and public outreach for the commuter ferry services, cruise, helicopter, freight rail and marine cargo operations under the purview of the Economic Development Corporation.
At NYCEDC, Joshua was responsible for launching NYC Ferry, a $380 million expansion of New York City’s ferry network, which represents the largest single expansion of commuter ferry service in the United States. He also carried out a comprehensive overhaul of New York City’s cruise program—the fifth largest in the nation—implementing a strategic plan to position it for renewed stability and growth over the next decade.
“Joshua’s deep knowledge of transportation policy, planning and project management across such a diverse set of modes in the passenger, public transit and freight sectors along with his expertise in designing, implementing and managing complex multi-million-dollar operations, capital projects and Public-Private partnerships are an excellent fit for Hatch,” said Elliot Sander, Hatch’s Managing Director, Transportation. “Our clients will benefit from his 15 years of experience working with a variety of stakeholders from Class I freight railroads to cruise lines to commuter ferry operators to develop and implement meaningful transportation solutions.”
Joshua adds, “Whether it’s satisfying economic development goals, streamlining operations or enhancing the quality of life for the people who live, work and play in our communities, thoughtfully crafted transportation policies, plans and projects have the power to be truly transformative. I’m extremely excited to join the Hatch team in New York City and to continue tackling transportation’s toughest challenges to deliver real value to our clients.”
